Our progressive pack trips traverse the broad river valleys along meandering streams teeming with wild trout. These rich riparian zones offer some of the finest dry fly fishing for native cutthroat to be found in the world. Observe elk, moose, bear, and possibly bighorn sheep in their natural environment and enjoy a world of true natural beauty where man is but a visitor. Come travel with us through this fantastic world of spouting geysers, bubbling mud caldrons, river valleys laced with wild flowers and pristine mountain streams, we all know today as Yellowstone Park.

Yellowstone Trip Options  



Slough Creek- A 9 mile pack will reach the upper meadows, the serious fly fisherman will find this a ticket to paradise. The lazy meanders of Slough Creek traverse the broad meadows and offer mile after mile of fishable water for cutthroat trout that will average about 16 inches. This is a 4 day trip geared strictly for the serious fly fisherman. The best time of year is between July 15-August 30.

Fishing for cutthroat trout, Slough Creek, Yellowstone

Camp in Slough Creek drainage, Yellowstone

 

Cutthroat trout, Yellowstone River Thorofare-This is the most remote area of Yellowstone Park where the Yellowstone River empties into Yellowstone Lake's southeast arm. The fishing is as excellent as the scenery for large cutthroats (average 16"-18") both in the river and in smaller tributaries. The Thorofare country is a large riparian area where wildlife is also plentiful. Trip duration is 7-10 days and will cover 70-80 miles with four camp stops. Anytime from July 15 through September you will find this an exceptional backcountry experience.

Cost is $2,450.00 per guest for 7 days or $2,800.00 for 9 days.

Camp at Colters Meadows, Thorofare country, Yellowstone

 

Union Falls, Bechler country, Yellowstone
Bechler River - This is an area of waterfalls and thermal activity in the extreme southwest corner of the Park. The fishing is challenging for the large cutthroats. In the lower reaches, above Colonade Falls the fishing becomes faster for pan-sized trout. This is a late August - September trip of 7 days duration. The scenery is that of tranquil forests, meadows, and tumbling waterfalls. Wildlife is plentiful. At this time of year, the air will be filled with the mystical sound of bugling elk. The trip usually covers 20-25 miles with two camp stops.

Swimming in the thermal pools of Bechler River, Yellowstone

 

Gallatin River - An easy 6 mile pack will reach the campsite in the upper meadows. The Gallatin is a meandering crystal clear stream that contains some beautiful rainbow-cutthroat hybrids. The long slicks and pools offer challenging fishing and exceptional scenery. Wildlife is plentiful, particularly elk and moose. Trip duration is 4 days in late June through mid-September.

Fishing for rainbow trout, Gallatin River, YellowstoneUpper meadows of the Gallatin River, Yellowstone


 

Snake River - This is a big wild country, the river bisects the heavily forested terrain along the southern border of Yellowstone Park. The Snake River winds its way through canyons and forest valleys offering a unique wilderness experience through vast forests dominated by douglas fir, engleman spruce and lodge pole pine. The fishing is challenging for cutthroat, rainbow and brown trout. There are many smaller tributary waters available to fish as well as Heart Lake which contains large lake trout and cutthroats. The trip length is 7 days and usually covers about 30 miles with 2 or 3 different camps. The time of year is August through early September.
